Danang, Vietnam Airlines to jointly promote tourism in Japan |

The central coast city of Danang will contribute US$50,000 to Vietnam Airlines to organize road shows in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan this September to bring the country's tourism products and services to Japanese travelers.
The road shows will take place on the occasion of the JATA World Tourism Congress and Travel Fair in Japan.
Nguyen Duy Quang, Vice Director of the Danang Tourism Promotion Center, said that the city government would be joining the activities upon request of Vietnam Airlines, and through its representative office in Tokyo.
The promotions will focus on introducing Vietnam as a destination for Japanese tourists, especially the central region. Danang will be trumpeted as a gateway for Japanese visitors to travel to Vietnam.

New series celebrates Hanoi's 1,000th anniversary |

A TV series on the history of Hanoi will start shooting in December to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary
of Thang Long-Hanoi.
The 70 episode series, entitled "Huyen su thien do" (the history of the capital city), is about Ly Cong Uan or King Ly Thai To, who decided to move the country's capital from Hoa Lu to what is now present day Hanoi in the Red River Delta.

Vietnam - An Attractive Destination for Japanese Tourists December9,2009 |

During these last 10 years a growing number of Japanese tourists have been coming to Vietnam. Last year, for example, Vietnam welcomed about 400,000 Japanese travelers. The Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) said that about 16.5 million Japanese people go abroad each year and nearly 400,000 of these people visit Vietnam. Experts say that Vietnam has the potential to attract even more tourists from Japan.

The secret of Hoi An's ancient wells |
Besides relics including ancient houses, temples and tombs, ancient wells are a special part of Hoi an ancient town, a world cultural heritage site. Most old wells in Hoi An are located in the northern bank of the De Vong river, in Cam Thanh commune and Thanh Ha ward. These wells are often 50-150m from the river and some are even closer.

Southern amateur music to be submitted to UNESCO December9,2009 |

The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho is building up a file on Dan ca tai tu Nam bo (Southern amateur music) to be submitted to the UNESCO for recognition as an intangible cultural heritage, said a provincial official.
According to Ho Van Hoang, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Dan ca tai tu Nam bo is a genre of chamber music in the traditional music of southern Vietnam which was born in the end of the 19 th century.
